THE UNIQUE FLAVOUR OF THE CHESTNUT HONEY
Azienda Agricola Festinalente (Festinalente Farm) practices Nomadic Beekeeping, with Organic Farming U.E. Certification, in the ‘Grigna Settentrionale Regional Park’, near Lecco, where the mountains of the Como Lake make a beautiful background for the work of the bees.
It is a small, excellent reality, several times award winning at the the ‘Grandi mieli d’Italia’ (‘Great Italian Honey’) contest – the contest, organized by the National Observatory on Honey, is the most qualified and most prestigious competition on the quality of Italian honey -.
The flavour of the chestnut honey is unique, not very sweet and with an almost bitter aftertaste; it is very persistent, and highly appreciated by those who like a strong, less sweet honey.
It is excellent with aged cheeses and hearty meat dishes, and pairs very well with bread and butter.
Festinalente honey is raw: any form of heating is avoided to ensure all the natural nutritional elements are preserved. Because of this, it may naturally crystallize.
